Deep Water Grille and South Shore Brewery

Ashland, WI  54806

50-minute drive.   Excellent food, brewery.  Choose your ale!!  Take Route 2 West 44 miles into Ashley, Wisconsin.  Turn left onto MacArthur Ave.  Take first right onto Main St. West.  Deep Water Grille is on the left.
The Bear Bar Restaurant Lodge 60-minute drive.  One of the best meals we've had.  It's an old lodge/cabin with a neat history. Take Route 2 East to Wakefield.  Turn right at Club 28 bar and go 20 miles until you come to a T in the road.  Turn right at the T, which is County W South.  Go a couple more miles and The Bear is on the right.
  Konteka Black Bear Resort
Hwy 64 & Main
White Pine, MI  49971
906.885.5170
45-minute drive.  On the snowmobile trail.  In the summer, see real, live, black bears!  They feed the bears so the big, well-fed, bears come out to eat and you can watch them from your inside table.  Food was pretty good, too, but the real draw is to see bears.  Take Route 2 East to Wakefield.  Turn left onto Sunday Lake St/M-28.  Go 12 miles into White Pine. Turn left and see Konteka on the left.
60-minute drive south on Route 51 in Manitowish Waters.  On the snowmobile trail.  We stop here for breakfast/lunch EVERY time we head home on Route 51 South.  It's one hour from Bear Hug.  Take a whole pie home and be sure to get a homemade biscuit and hash browns!  Open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.
